Businesses
A community at the forefront of helping visitors to enjoy and look after the National Park and its rare and endangered wildlife.
Background
In 2020, the Cairngorms Business Partnership, on behalf of the project, invited the local business community to share their views about promoting the natural heritage of the Cairngorms National Park and ways to enjoy it responsibly.
Workshops were attended by businesses including estates, accommodation providers, wildlife guides, visitor attractions and outdoor activity providers; all felt they had an important role to play in helping people to enjoy and look after the National Park and the things that make it special, including its rare and endangered wildlife. You can read the notes from the workshops here.
Plan
Following the workshops, 131 businesses shared their views through an online survey. The results, available here, provided a wider and more detailed insight into how the business community feels about promoting the natural heritage of the Cairngorms National Park and ways to enjoy it responsibly.
The results from the survey enabled the project and the Cairngorms Business Partnership to identify three key actions that aim to help more businesses to play an active role in maximising the visitor experience in the National Park and opportunities for wildlife to thrive. Those key actions were developed into a draft Action Plan which was shared with the business community for comment. The final Action Plan is available here.
